Our Inspiration

The inspiration for our programs has come from the pioneering and highly successful micro enterprise development model of David and Carol Bussau and Microfinance organisation - Opportunity International Australia.

In 2000 we were fortunate to be able to engage with David, Denis Perry, Leigh Coleman and a number of their team on the deployment of a 3 year pilot telecentre and microfinance program.

This project created the Philippines first ICT Telecentre for disadvantaged youth in Ermita, Manila with CMED partners CCT as well as the creation of www.SolvePoverty.com.

The Pioneering Work of Opportunity International

Although we are no longer involved with Opportunity International we continue to be inspired by their work and methodology.

Opportunity International is a global leader of microfinance and enterprise development, and in 2006 they celebrated their 35th anniversary.

The pioneering work of David Bussau and the late Al Whittaker began in the 1970's during the earliest days of the microfinance revolution. Opportunity International continues today through the commitment and shared vision of five support partners and 44 implementing partners throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

I continue to accumulate new learnings in Computers and ICT so that I can share and teach to my friends and relatives so that they can also have the opportunity to earn money and overcome poverty as well.

Before, I was not interested in computers because my dreams were to be a pilot or a seaman because I'd like to travel around the world. But when I started studying at GLOW and have familiarized myself with computers, it was like a whole new world was opened up before me. I studied, watched, listened, asked questions and practiced the information I've collected to expand my computer capabilities.
